Tennis Service Representatives - HERE to serve you
In 2006 the Tennis Campaign got a big boost from the new Tennis
Service Representative program with “TSRs” being hired by the 17 USTA sections and charged
with helping to connect local tennis providers with resources to grow the game at the grassroots level.
According to the 2005 U.S. Tennis Participation Study, participation
in the sport is up for the first time in six years. To continue
this momentum, the TIA and USTA are working to strengthen the Tennis
Welcome Center initiative, which has given the public a swinging
start toward lifelong enjoyment of this lifetime sport since its
inception in 2004.
In 2006, Industry commitment is up in the form of racquet hang
tags, tennis ball can logos, ads and tournament
promotion. Co-op
dollars up to $200,000 will also be earmarked exclusively for Tennis
Welcome Center participants. Leading publications will award
top TWC facilities with recognition and coverage.
The newly created Tennis Service Representative position will help
support the facilities and parks registered as Tennis Welcome Centers.
A “Learn to Play Fast” curriculum has been added for
facilities, including exercises to help players learn tennis basics
in minutes.
This year, to help call attention to TWCs, there will be a national
promotion including newspaper ads listing numerous sites that are
located in various markets. Interested consumers can also continue
to access information about sites in their area by entering their
ZIP code at www.TennisWelcomeCenter.com.
Enhancements to the website last year simplified the search process
further and provided a link to detailed facility information under
each listing, including program offerings and opportunities to
contact the facility with questions and/or offer feedback. With
the website’s ease of use, page views and hits were in the
millions last year. TWC sites will have the opportunity to
add a tennis specific website to their individual listing on the
consumer site.
Why you need to support the TWC Initiative
An estimated 94 million Americans have tried tennis but left due
to a poor introductory experience. They simply picked up a racquet
and tried to play without the benefit of instruction or coaching.
Research shows that when people are introduced to tennis through
fun and organized instructional programs they keep playing. We
need your help to attract and retain more tennis players. Please
register today. As a Tennis Welcome Center, your tennis facility
benefits from the largest marketing campaign EVER to introduce
new players to tennis the right way so they keep playing!
